5) Lodi Dynasty (1451-1526)
1 Bahlul Lodi [1451- 1489]:-
Bahlul Lodi was the founder of Lodi Dynasty. The origin of this dynasty was Afgan.
He was a wise statesman and the chief of the Pashtun Lodi Tribe. Bahlul Lodi was a very powerful chief of the Punjab. He rebelled against Sayyid dynasty and replaced the Allauddin Shah in 1451 who was the last ruler of Sayyid dynasty. Bahlul Lodi sent Allauddin Shah to Badaun.
He took various measures to gratify his Nobles. To gain the support of Nobles, Bahlul Lodi never sat on the throne instead he opted to sit on the carpet with his nobles.
Gwalior, Samthal, Sakit, Mewat was conquered by Bahlul Lodi. He extended his baundries towards Bengal Region.
He died in 1489 A.D.
2. Sikandar Lodi [1489-1517]:-
He was a powerful Sultan who extended Lodi dynasty towards Bihar.
Sikandar Shah-i was the son of Bahlul Lodi.
He created a well-organized spy system, he also developed agriculture system and industries.
He made aligns with
Bengal rulers. He also suppressed Rajputs.
Sikandar Lodi captured the Bihar and and founded the Modern City of Agra on the site of Sikandarabad.
He put severe restrictions on Hindus.
Sikandar Shah liked "Shehnai" Music. A work on music names " Lahjati- Sikandar Shahi " was created during his reign.
3. Ibrahim Lodi [1517-1526]:-
He succeeded the throne after Sikander Lodi.
Ibrahim Lodi was not a Good Ruler. He was stubborn and intolerant.
Ibrahim Lodi killed so many nobles cruelly and so many nobles were humiliated by Ibrahim Lodi.
He also treated his son Dilwar Khan Lodi badly and cruelly.
The governor of Punjab, Daulat-khan
Lodi rebelled against Ibrahim Lodi.
The Ruler of Kabul, Babur invaded in India at the behest of Daulat khan. In the year 1526 A.D, first Battle Of Panipat fought between Ibrahim Lodi and Babur.
Babur defeated the Ibrahim Lodi and Captured Delhi.
Lodi Dynasty was the last ruling family of Delhi Sultanate. Babur captured Delhi and started the Mughal Sultanate in India.
